Nutritionist - Dublin
Glanmore Foods · UK
Our estimate of how close this job is to decisions about what protein a business sources, specifies, buys and serves. How we score
Why this role matters
How close this job is to real sourcing and menu decisions.
This role sits inside a major contract caterer feeding schoolchildren across Ireland, with real input into menu compliance, product specifications and reformulation projects run jointly with Procurement and suppliers. Nothing in the advert says those menus or specs are being shaped around meat, dairy, egg or plant-protein choices, so right now the lever is nutrition and allergen compliance rather than sourcing standards or the protein mix directly. The door it opens is more interesting than the immediate scope: working across nutrition science, menu development, supplier specifications and large-scale institutional food buying builds exactly the commercial fluency and supplier relationships that someone could later bring to a role where protein mix and sourcing standards are explicitly on the table, for instance a category or reformulation role in school or hospital catering that deliberately shifts covers toward plant-based options.

How to position yourself
The language that works with hiring managers for this kind of job.
Position this role around compliance, evidence-based practice and stakeholder management: citing your work on the Healthy Ireland Nutrition Standards for School Meals, allergen legislation and nutritional database management shows the commercial and regulatory rigour employers want. Build toward an Association for Nutrition (AfN) accreditation if you don't already hold one, and use any involvement in product reformulation or supplier specification work as a stepping stone to talk convincingly about category and menu strategy in future applications.
